Bigs & Littles: The Flynnigans

A few months back, I was invited to be a part of the ‘Bigs & Littles Blogging Network’, a partnering of bloggers to teach, to learn and to grow. Regardless of our blog size or experience, each network member has something to give back to others.

My 'little' was Lindsay, from The Flynnigans, a blog all about her simple, yet beautiful, life. Lindsay and I were paired up because of our mutual love for animals. However, once we got to talking, we realized we have much much more in common! We are both Toronto girls, working in the heart of the city. From there we discussed our horrible commutes to and from work each day and how we escape from the busy life. Turns out, we are both avid campers, with Algonquin as a favourite destination. Scuba diving is also on both of our lists of favourite outdoor activities - Lindsay a warm water vet, and me taking a liking to what the cold water of the Great Lakes has to offer.

While I have had this little creative outlet since 2010, I really didn’t start to get serious about T.O. & fro until late 2013. Thanks to some great advice from fellow bloggers, hours of research and workshops, T.O. & fro has slowly become what I envisioned it to be. In the past few years, I have learnt a great deal about blogging, photography and design, sponsorship, etc., that it excites me to be able to pay it forward by giving advice to those that were once in my shoes.

Lindsay had some great blogging questions - Do you have a lot of readership? And at what point did you decide it was time to try and make money from your blog? were just a few. We discussed blogging courses at Camp Tech in Toronto, social marketing companies and the lack of Canadian opportunities, and our preference for having a tangible paper blog planner rather than using technology. If Lindsay didn’t learn anything from my advice, in the least, we both gained a new friend in this crazy blogging world. There has even been talking about planning a camping trip in the future!

Joining a network such as this one is a great way to meet like-minded people from across the world, and to expand your blogging community and creative side. A big thank you to Christine and Chelsee for hosting this network, and to Lindsay for putting my blogging knowledge and advice to the test.

Are you a part of a similar network?

  1. Beautifully written. Such kind words, too!

It's been a great experience thus far and I only think our friendship will grow from here!

I've checked out Camp Tech courses and there's a few I'd like to take but no dates for the one you mentioned I should take.

My post will be up shortly... Thanks love xoxo Hope you have a great day! *happy dance it's Friday!!*

  2. What a great network! I'm coming here from Lindsay's blog. It's so great to discover other Canadian bloggers. It's crazy that you both ended up living so close together and having so much in common. My boyfriend and I are big campers too and are counting down the days until this Halifax weather warms up enough that we can get out there. Have a great weekend!

  3. I always love this linkup and feel like I couldn't have had a better fit that my little Diana for This Imperfect Happiness!

  4. Thank you so much for joining us! I'm so glad you enjoyed the experience!

  5. Thanks so much for participating! I am so happy that you had such a great experience. Looks like you made the perfect match! Hope to see you for the next round!

  6. I loved this network!! I was paired with Christine :) Soooo helpful! I will definitely do it again.
On another note - I took a canoe / portage / camping trip through Algonquin when I was younger and it was by far the best outdoorsy thing I've done. What a beautiful, peaceful place!!!

I would love to hear from you!
