What excites you about the holiday season? | a group feature

Happy December!! The holiday season is FAST approaching. Our mini tree is decorated, the advent calendars purchased and the countdown has officially begun.

This will be our first Christmas at home with family in 3 years.  Although we have loved cooking a turkey with all the fixins' and playing host the past 3 years in Alaska, it will be nice to be able to take a back seat and relax this year.  I am extremely excited for our first Christmas together as Mr & Mrs, and to be able to share family traditions and create more of our own.

I'm not the only one excited for this holiday season.  Check out these lovely ladies and what they're looking forward to this holiday season

Jessa @ Life of a Sports Wife: I am looking forward to being able to spend the holidays with friends. With my husband's job, we don't always get to go home for the holidays. This year we are having friends over and I am cooking for them.

Mrs K @ Mrs K & Captain J:  I am most looking forward to decorating for Christmas! I grew up with a tree in every room around this magical time of year and now that we finally have our own home, I plan to continue the tradition of decking the halls.

Rachel @ With Love, Rachel: This year I most look forward to time spent with family, old and new. This is the first year that I am spending Thanksgiving with my significant other's family, and I am really looking forward to the new memories and traditions that we will be beginning this year. I am also looking forward to decorating our house for Christmas. I've always lived in apartments or condos where we couldn't put up Christmas lights, so putting up lights and decorating our house is really exciting, and makes me feel like a child again.

Tina @ Girl Meets Globe: I am always giddy this time of year when we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, over decorate with Christmas decorations, family traditions of pajama night on Christmas Eve, watching Linus read the Christmas story on "A Charlie Brown Christmas." We've been living the expat life for 14 years now, but this is our first Christmas in England.  I look forward to experiencing all the Christmas activities and joining in the local customs and traditions in England.  Maybe this year we'll visit the Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park, experience Christmas Past at the Geffrye Museum or peruse one of the many Christmas Markets.

Missy @ Take All Chances: I can’t believe it’s that time again, the holiday season. So what am I looking forward to? Christmas with my family is the thing I am most looking forward to, the laughs and smiles and that special family time. Also, I love how pretty the lights are everywhere at this time – everywhere twinkles. And finally, being wrapped up in my winter coats, hats and scarves!

Andi @ ap loves design: I'm looking forward to spending my second Christmas as a Mrs! I've also started cooking more in the last few months, and I already have a number of recipes that I can't wait to try out for our friends and family. Who knows, I might even share them with the neighbors :)

Ginny @ A Modern Commonplace Book: I love the smell of the cold air, the dark evenings, red cups at Starbucks, twinkle lights on Main Street, Christmas music on every corner, and piles of Christmas cookies!  I am really looking forward to making this season simple and special for all our family!  My husband and I started dating in December, got engaged the next December, and got married the next December!  Along with that it is my birthday month and Christmas - definitely the most special month!
