Pumpkin Spice Coffee Recipe

Today is Day 3 of #Blogtober14, brought to you by Helene in Between and The Daily Tay. Today's topic is "one thing I can't live without".  To play along, check out the daily prompts here.

This topic is a tricky one, because there are many things I'm dependent on every day...

Cell phone? Duh.

Good moisturizer and lip balm as the weather changes? Check.

Trusty pen to complete my daily crossword? You bet.

It's hard to narrow it down to just one.

This morning, as we were walking out the door, Steve asked me if I had grabbed my morning coffee. I said, "Yes, just a small cup." and his response was, "Good. I know how you get without your morning coffee."  I don't turn into the Hulk or anything, but it's safe to say the success and productiveness of my morning is dependent on that first cup. I think he made it pretty darn clear that I definitely cannot live without coffee.

This time of year, pumpkin spice lattes are all the rage. I don't know about you, but I can't afford to shell out $5 for something I chug back in less than 5 minutes.  So, why not make something similar at home? Here's a simple recipe...

pumpkin spice coffee recipe

What you need:
Brewed coffee
1/4 cup cream or milk
1 tsp pumpkin pie spice
Splash of vanilla

What to do:
1..  In a small saucepan, heat cream or milk. Make sure you do not burn it.
2..  Add pumpkin pie spice and vanilla. Whisk in.
3..  Remove from heat.
4..  Add desired amount of cream or milk to mug, and top with coffee.

The pumpkin spice and vanilla flavours are subtle, but definitely enough to get your PSL fix!
By the way, our fancy pants Bodum Bistro coffee maker has taken our morning coffee to a whole new level. Definitely worth the investment.

What's one thing you can't live without?

  4. yum! I've made something similar before using a little bit of canned pumpkin heated up with the cream/milk - but this looks easier! Thanks for sharing it :)
